The Ministry of Science and Technology recently announced the official launch of the 2030 major science and technology innovation project. Development of high-end scientific instruments has been designated as a key priority, with an expected investment exceeding 50 billion yuan.
Project Layout
This project will focus on developing cutting-edge scientific instruments in the following areas: gene sequencers, cryo-electron microscopes, high-resolution mass spectrometers, ultrafast lasers, and measurement systems for extreme-condition material properties.
Implementation Approach
The project adopts an open-competition model to recruit R&D teams and solutions from the entire society. Regardless of organizational affiliation, any team with the capability and a viable solution can undertake major national research missions.
Expected Goals
Through project implementation, we aim to significantly enhance China's domestic capacity for high-end scientific instruments within 5-10 years, achieving international leading standards in select fields and providing robust support for building a science and technology powerhouse.
