Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology released the "Report on the Development of High-End Scientific Instruments (2026)", which shows that China has made major breakthroughs in high-end scientific instruments such as mass spectrometers, chromatographs, and spectrometers.
The report indicates that, supported by the National Key R&D Program of China's 14th Five-Year Plan, domestic companies have successfully developed multiple high-end analytical instruments with international advanced standards. Some products achieve performance metrics that match or exceed those of comparable international offerings.
Core Technological Breakthrough
In the mass spectrometry field, a domestic Chinese company has successfully broken through core quadrupole mass spectrometer technology, achieving full-chain independent innovation from ion source to detector. Key performance metrics such as resolution and sensitivity have reached international leading levels.
In the field of chromatography, domestic manufacturing of ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) systems has broken the long-standing foreign monopoly, providing reliable analytical tools for pharmaceuticals, food safety, and other sectors.
Policies continue to strengthen
A senior official from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated that the ministry will further strengthen policy support for the scientific instrument industry, promote deep integration among industry, academia, research, and application, and accelerate the independent R&D and industrialization of high-end instruments and equipment.
